Weighing in at a svelte 1,100g for the naked wheelset, Corima's MCC wheelset is incredibly light.
As you'd expect, that translates into a super-fast-accelerating wheel but what's interesting to note is that compared to other wheels of a similar weight the Corimas have a more stable feel at speed suggesting the mass is closer to the rim.
Primarily tested in criterium races the MCCs have given a very reliable feel, fast to pick up and, as always seems to be the way with Corimas, offer superb braking.
Sadly when someone crashes in front of you even the best brakes can't always stop you in time and so it proved for me. A flip over the bars with the bike landing hard led to two broken spokes.
Why are we telling you this? Two reasons - we were so impressed by the strength of the rim that even with two of the six spokes gone on one side the wheel remained true and only rubbed the frame when pulling away from a standing start.
The second is that the spokes can be repaired - my breakage will cost £300 plus postage. Both of those facts make the MCCs unique to our knowledge.
