A prodigious talent capable of winning on a range of parcours and against the clock too, the Slovak is a force in modern cycling. This season wasn’t all positive though and a lacklustre Classics campaign called his prospects and wage packet into question.
He turned things around at the Tour of California and went on to have a successful second half of the season which culminated in a rainbow jersey.
