You command and Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 executes; no need to take off your helmet nor your hands off the bar
“Ok, Garmin: start recording”. That’s all you have to say to start recording with the new Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 action cam. No need to take your helmet off if you’re on the bike, nor to touch any buttons. The newest product from Garmin is claimed to be simply mind-blowing thanks to its voice controlled feature, the Sensory TrulyHandsfree.
But the Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 is not only smart, as the navigation giant promises also HD movies with a 4K Ultra/30fps feature, slow motion, pictures up to 12 Mp, night mode with long exposure, a stabiliser for high quality footage and a compartment for an extra SD card.
Garmin claims a light weight of 88 grams and a waterproof shell able to withstand immersion at depths up to 40 meters. Moreover, if you have a smartphone or tablet operating with iOS, you can also broadcast your activities live, by using your phone as a remote controller and going live on YouTube. On the other hand, if you want to edit your video afterwards, you can do it through Garmin’s VIRB Edit software, which also enables you to use data and analytics of your ride.
Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 also features an integrated GPS and an easy-to-use touch screen. Its design looks like a GoPro, but the voice control is something that not even the best known sport camera on the market dared to try. It will go on sale in September at a price of €529, while UK prices have yet to be confirmed
