If you’ve ever been tempted to stay at home and not go for a bike ride because it’s a bit wet and windy out, then you’ve been put to shame by two cyclists in Florida, who decided – rather unwisely – that Hurricane Irma was providing perfect conditions for a Sunday spin.
The two men were spotted cycling down a Miami street as winds of more than 100mph battered the city, with an astonished CNN news reporter spotting the two men struggling to control their bikes in the huge tailwind.

Unsurprisingly, the news reporter isn’t best impressed with the two men’s antics, branding them as “incredibly stupid” before saying ” I don’t know how they’re staying up on two wheels, do not do that! They may be joyseekers but that is absolutely unsafe.”
Cannondale-Drapac rider Lawson Craddock also tweeted a photo of what appears to be the same two cyclists, joking about how the huge tailwinds would help in sweeping up the Strava KOMs.
Hurricane Irma has caused devastation as it has swept across the Caribbean and Florida in recent days, with the death toll currently standing at 46, but being expected to rise, and many thousands of people having lost their homes.
