Why are we excited about Tour de France 2017?

Because this could be Chris Froome’s fourth Tour de France victory, taking him to within one win of the all-time greats of cycling.

Last year Froome dominated the Tour, outperforming all his rivals on every terrain, even downhill to take a surprising and audacious win in the Pyrenees. The Kenyan-born Brit also overcame a dramatic pile-up on Mont Ventoux which saw him running towards the finishing line surrounded by incredulous fans. He sealed the deal with victory in the mountain time trial and goes into 2017 as the outstanding favourite.

His rivals this year are French talent Romain Bardet plus seasoned Tour men Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana. Young Brit Adam Yates will also be looking to improve on last year’s fourth place.

And we haven’t forgotten Mark Cavendish either – last year Cav won four stages moving him into second place with 30 Tour stages with just Eddy Merckx ahead of him on 34. Can the Manx Missile equal or even break the record in 2017?

Tour Magazine also talks to two people who know a bit about sprinting about the king of cool, Peter Sagan’s chancing of entering the  record books.

Celebrate the biggest event in world cycling with the best value, most colourful and informative race guide on the shelves.

Our #TourSockSelfie competition is also back for another year. We had so many fantastic entries last year, including our winner, John Foster, who took his #TourSockSelfie from the cockpit, 35000 feet in the air. This year there will be two winners, one for our favourite entrant, and one that will be chosen completely at random.
