Blackpool has hosted a stage start or finish in five of the previous seven tours, so it is no surprise that it returns to the race for the fourth year running.

Once again we finish below Blackpool Tower, but the riders will hit the heights much earlier on when they tackle the second-category Grayrigg climb after just five kilometres of racing.

The race then heads into the foothills of the Pennines, taking in Grizedale Fell and Bank Farm in quick succession.

The final 50km are flat, and once the riders enter the Blackpool seafront at Cleveleys, expect them to travel somewhat faster than the famous trams do.
