Polaris Tornado jacket review

Polaris Tornado jacket
Cycling Weekly Verdict

A warm, practical and visible jacket, which is effective even when slightly wet.

Great fit for tall skinny riders, windproof and warm

Maybe could do with more reflective material for greater hi viz after dark if its used for commuting as the neon suggests

Made of what Polaris describe as it's Thermastretch material, a light fleece fabric, it does the job of wicking moisture out and away from the body and arms. Across the front of the body and arms a laminated three-layer windproof fabric is used to stop the wind in its tracks.

Tornado worked well in cold weather, keeping the wind off and allowing me to stay warm throughout long, crisp winter rides. The body length was a ample and the elasticated gripper on the waist hem worked well to stop chilly gaps from forming to make an uncomfortable back when on the drops.

The thumb loops on the cuffs were a useful idea for keeping the sleeves down but I found them to be too tight and on longer rides really quite irritating.

The two deep pockets on the centre back and a pocket on each side with angled entry allow ready access while riding, a smaller zipped pocket for securing valuables means it has good stowage.
