With the Tour de France kicking off with a 13.8km individual time trial around the streets of Utrecht, 2015 will be a year for one of the peloton’s top time triallists to take the yellow jersey. Here’s our pick of three of the riders, and their bikes, that could strike yellow in the Netherlands.

The three-time World Time Trial champion will be aboard his Specialized Shiv time trial bike. Painted with Raging Bull graphics, the main talking point on this bike is the massive 58 tooth FSA chainring, a setup which is becoming more and more common among the strong men of the peloton.
The saddle and bars are topped with grip tape to keep Martin’s hands and backside firmly in position, with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Vision wheels at both front and rear.
Fabian Cancellara’s Trek Speed Concept
Another multiple World Time Trial Champion, Cancellara will be riding his trademark Trek Speed Concept time trial bike, complete with a custom paint job for Spartacus.
The bike comes with what looks like a set of Bontrager wheels, but is actually a Bontrager Aeolus 9 at the front and a rebranded HED disc at the rear – so effectively a low profile rim covered with a carbon fairing. The groupset is Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 with Bontrager finishing kit.
Alex Dowsett’s Canyon Speedmax CF
Dowsett will be aboard the Canyon Speedmax CF, the road version of the Canyon Speedmax WHR that he rode to Hour Record glory in May. The bike is clad with full Campagnolo Super Record EPS, with 56/44t chainset and Power2Max power meter.
The bike features a rather smart integrated aero bar and stem, Campagnolo Bora wheels and Continental tubular tyres, and a 3D printed computer mount.
