Human Race and Tour de France organiser ASO have joined forces to launch L’Etape London – a sportive that will take in much of the route of stage three of the 2014 Tour.
Offering distances of 40, 90 and 120 miles the event will culminate with a lap around the Lee Valley VeloPark at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford on Sunday, September 27.
Championed by five-time Tour de France winner, Bernard Hinault, the ride will hope to capture the enthusiasm seen during the Grand Départ last July and will follow in the footsteps of the Tour de Yorkshire sportive in May.
Yann Le Moenner, general manager of ASO added “Human Race are the leading provider of quality sportives in the UK and we are proud to grow our association with them.
“Following on from the success of the sell-out Tour de Yorkshire Ride, we are excited to strengthen our partnership by jointly delivering what is set to be a landmark event for cycling in London.”
As well as some gruelling miles on the bike, riders will be able to take in a number of Tour de France-themed experiences before and after the event, including:
• Tour de France styled ride numbers
• A leg shaving experience in the event village
• A Tour de France museum and photo expo
• Tour de France styled Stage Profile bike stickers
• A Tour de France finish podium photo experience
Organisers expect the event to sell out quickly and riders can register their interest now at www.humanrace.co.uk/letapelondon
