WorldTour pro searches for new team on Twitter

Fredrik Ludvigsson has taken to Twitter in his quest to find a team for the 2017 season after Giant-Alpecin did not renew the 22-year-old's contract at the team.

Ludvigsson took to social media on Tuesday evening asking any teams "who need a strong rider for 2017" to email him with their interest.

The Swedish rider rode his last race for the German team as recently as October 30 at the Tour of Hainan but his season has been marred by a number of DNFs.

September was particularly tough for the young rider when he finished just one of the four races he started.

Ludvigsson's older brother Tobias has secured his future in the WorldTour after signing a two-year contract with FDJ.

Other riders who have found themselves in a similar situation often choose to drop down to the Pro-Continental ranks for a season before attempting to get back into the WorldTour at a later date.

British national champion Adam Blythe has moved to new Irish-based team Aqua Blue after his contract at Tinkoff ended when the team was closed at the end of the 2016 season.

A similar move might be a good way for Ludvigsson to remain a pro-cyclist and at 22-years-old, time is on his side for breaking back into the top ranks.
