Strava says that there are over 130,000 active clubs on its platform, with riders and runners able to view weekly performance of other club members and interact with them.
Until now, this functionality has not been available on mobile platforms, but Strava has now introduced club features for iOS and Android devices.
Functionality which Strava is now making available on mobile devices includes the ability to post comments to clubs’ discussion boards.
In addition, mobile users can search and navigate data for clubs of which they are members, search for new clubs based on location, look for athlete networks and shared interests.
In addition, there are new push notifications helping to keep in touch and the option to share and promote clubs via Twitter and Facebook.
Watch: Strava secret feature
William Lee, Product Manager at Strava, says: “A lot of our athletes rely on their mobile devices for running and riding, so it made sense to bring clubs to mobile and make them as easily accessible as other Strava features.
“Now you can see the top ten athletes of the week on the leaderboard, interact with club members on discussion boards, share news and updates and post announcements all via your phone, to keep the club active, motivating and growing.”
Club members will also be able to look at their own activities and other members’ via the club feed, access improved leaderboards and view a scatterplot of their training compared to other club members.
