Tour of Britain 2011: Stage three preview

For the third successive year, the Tour of Britain includes an undulating stage around Stoke-on-Trent.

Although some changes have been made to the route which split the race up in 2010, the riders will still have to tackle the climbs at Ramshorn and the first-category Gun Hill, which could be the launch pad for a breakaway attempt.

Another climb – at Commonside – is new for 2011, but probably comes too far out from the finish to be crucial.

Greg Henderson and Edvald Boasson Hagen have made light of the uphill finish in Hanley to take stage wins here – will another powerhouse succeed in 2011?
