WyndyMilla to supply custom bikes to Sahara Force India Formula One team
Custom painted Wyndymilla bikes in Formula One colours with Pirelli tyres and Zipp 454 wheels
Custom British bike brand, Wyndymilla has partnered with the Sahara Force India Formula One team. The partnership will see Wyndymilla supply the team with custom painted bikes in team livery for its two drivers, Esteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez as well as a series of single speed bikes for mechanics and pit crew. The bike we have here is painted up for Esteban Ocon, featuring Force India colours and the French driver's '31' number.
Sahara Force India are sponsored by Pirelli tyres and the bike is fitted with the new Pirelli P Zero Velos. The famous Italian tyre maker says that it’s built on its 110 years of experience in two and four wheeled motor sports for the new tyres. The P Zero name is used on the brand’s ultra-high performance Formula One tyres too, so its a nice detail.
Based around the Foo Fighter aero frameset, the bike features the team’s livery and sponsors in a very eye-catching pink paint job, with sponsors' logos included too.
The custom frames are an evolution of previous Foo Fighter designs, with a lighter, more compliant lay-up and revised brake placement on the rear seatstays. Previously, some Foo Fighter's had the brake placed on the bottom bracket.
Henry Furniss, director of WyndyMilla, described visiting the Force India team: "we were really excited by all the cutting edge Formula One stuff that was all over the place, however the Force India team are used to all that and they were all really excited about the bike and technology on that."
Mirroring a sport known for cutting edge tech, the bikes are fitted with SRAM Red eTap and the latest Zipp 454 carbon wheels. The bar and stem is integrated and carbon, while there are lots of other neat details. Every detail on the bike resides within dream build territory, with Fabric's ultra light carbon saddle, Speedplay Zero aero pedals, a custom headset cap and the seriously bling, super light ee Cycleworks brakes.
Cycling is a popular means of keeping fit for the world’s best drivers, with Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso both advocates of pedalling. In 2012 WyndyMilla supplied bikes to Nigel Mansell’s UK Youth team as well.
The intention is that the benefits of cycling will help the fitness of the team's drivers, but also the staff and mechanics too. The total weight of the bike is just 7.0kg including pedals - impressive considering the deep carbon wheels and aero frameset.
WyndyMilla and its racing team partner has also announced a partnership with with CBRE, the world's largest commercial real estate services firm. CBRE has long-standing connections with the cycling world, organising the world’s biggest annual property bike ride for charity partner Shelter, as well as its EMEA bike ride in aid of Plan International. These initiatives help support CBRE’s long-term objectives of developing outstanding riders whilst impressing the numerous health benefits of cycling to the corporate world. The CBRE logo is featured on the top tube.
