Pooley moves up to third in Giro Donne

Women race escape group, British road race National Championships 2012

British rider Emma Pooley has moved up to third overall in the 2012 Giro Donne after Sunday's third stage.

Pooley (AA Drink-leontien.nl) sits 31 seconds behind overall race leader Evelyn Stevens (Specialized Lululemon) and 19 seconds behind stage one and two winner Marianne Vos (Stichting Rabobank). Vos won the race overall in 2011.

Stevens won Sunday's mountainous 124km stage from Vernio to Castiglione dei Pepoli which featured two categorised peaks and an uphill finish.

The race stays in the mountains for Monday's fourth leg from Montecatini Terme and finishing atop Montecatini Alto. The 2012 edition of the race finishes in Bergamo on Saturday, July 7.
