Dan Martin and John Degenkolb also wearing new shoes at the Critérium du Dauphiné
Is there anything that Peter Sagan can’t do? On stage two of the Tour de Suisse he was winning the bunch sprint, and yesterday he was also putting his arms in the air, but this time after winning from the breakaway. And on both occasions he was also managing to pull off a pair of white, black, and gold Specialized S-Works 6 shoes.
From the looks of it, Specialized has given Sagan a normal pair of white and black shoes, and then let the world champion go to town with a gold Sharpie, drawing all over the shoes, although there is a little more care taken with the gold heel cup and Boa dials.
But Peter Sagan isn’t the only man to be wearing new shoes recently. Over at the Critérium du Dauphiné both Dan Martin and a few of the Giant-Alpecin riders were putting prototype shoes through their paces ahead of the Tour de France.
Martin was wearing what look to be a new pair of Mavic shoes, and although the fact that they’re black makes new features a little tricky to spot, they appear to have a carbon-fibre outer, with closure through two dials.
Meanwhile John Degenkolb and a few of his Giant-Alpecin teammates were wearing new, unmarked shoes, which we assume are from Shimano. Again details are hard to spot, but aesthetically they look similar to the Fizik R1s, with closure again provided through two Boa dials.
