Rudy Project National Time Trial Series leader Matt Bottrill warmed up for next Saturday’s National 25-Mile Championship with an impressive victory in the Mapperley CC 10 in Nottinghamshire on Saturday.
Bottrill, who has won all four rounds of the Series so far, clocked 19-49 to win by more than a minute – and he led a clean sweep of the podium for the I Ride Racing Team with colleagues Geoff Platts and Julian Ramsbottom second and third respectively.

Over longer distances, there was a good ride from UTAG Yamaha.com’s Julian Jenkinson who won the Manchester Wheelers 50-mile event on the Blythe Bridge to Hilton course in Staffordshire by 1-44 from Team Swift’s Joel Wainman.
Fastest rider in the VTTA (West) 50-mile event on the tough U21/50 course in Somerset was Jon Wynn (Northover VT) who clocked 1-49-40 to win by more than four minutes.
Over in Hampshire, Jenkinson’s UTAG Yamaha.com team-mate Stephen Whitewick won the Circuit of the New Forest, clocking 1-11-15 for the 32-mile event to take a comfortable win by around two and a half minutes.
In Lancashire, Derek Parkinson (Cleveleys RC) won the Preston Wheelers 25-mile event, clocking 52-53 to beat the promoting club’s John Morgan into second by 1-36, although Morgan did have the consolation of leading the winning team.
In Cumbria, Activ Cycles-Fentiman’s rider Giles Harrison won the Border City Wheelers 24.6-mile event at Calthwaite by just 26 seconds from Preston Wheelers’ Jimmy Wright.
Meanwhile, Bath CC’s Rob Pears continued his preparations for the National 25 with a winning ride of 20-08 in the Frome and District Wheelers 10-mile event at Nunney in Somerset.
