In its new partnership with GoPro, Velon has put together a video of Vermote’s day, from his warm-up outside the Etixx team bus to his mazy, weaving route to the start line.
Then it was game time. The Belgian rolled down the start ramp and started making his way through the technical 13.8km course in Utrecht.
He caught his minute man, Europcar’s Perrig Quemeneur, well before the finish line, but given that the Frenchman finished nearly two-and-a-half minutes back on winner Rohan Dennis it was unfortunately not a sign of a great time for Vermote.
In the end he finished middle-of-the-pack in 84th, 1m13 down on Dennis’s impressive time, but still managed to average over 51kph over his 16-minute ride.
Velon and GoPro will have plenty more on-bike footage throughout the Tour, so keep a look out for the best action here.
