Activetainment AS designs a real motion, virtual reality exercise bike that makes it feel like you're training outdoors
As much as many of us hate it, indoor training is often a necessary evil when the weather is cold and wet, but Norwegian company Activetainment AS claims to have made machines to make indoor exercise feel like it’s outdoors.
The company’s growing range of real motion products includes a pioneering exercise bike, a treadmill and a rowing machine, all equipped with 14” touch displays, and come with the claim of being the world’s most awesome exercise concept.
On the ebove B1 bike you will be able to watch 3D visualizations of some idyllic outdoor surroundings, and by the looks of the video you’ll be able to ‘ride’ both on and off road, although the fellow shown here appears to struggle to keep on the track.
The bike itself looks like it can move and twist like a ‘real’ bike, although the incline on the video makes it look like the rider is constantly trying to gee a horse.
“As pioneers, we are engaged to make every exercise session a unique and playful experience – Our mission is to bring indoor training to life,” the company says on its website.
The pedal resistance is regulated by the terrain you’re cycling through, but touch-point gears allow you to increase or decrease the effort you have to put in.
And as with anything exercise related these days, you can upload your times to see where you rank in the virtual leaderboards, just to give you that extra incentive to shun the great outdoors in favour of your living room.
