Celebrating a glorious summer

This week we bring you a fantastic free pull-out photo supplement to honour our unprecedented winning run.

The glorious Summer of Cycling begins with Bradley Wiggins’s historic Tour de France victory, includes his and Lizzie Armitsead’s Olympic road medals, that haul of seven golds from the velodrome, Sarah Storey and our Paralympic successes, then finally Chris Froome’s heroic Vuelta bid.

Phew, it really has been a hectic few months. And now after Froome’s fourth place in the Tour of Spain, we’ve overtaken Italy to move up to second in the UCI’s world road race rankings. Individual leader is of course Mr Wiggins, who also boasts victories in Paris-Nice, Dauphiné and Tour of Romandy to back up his big French win.

Unsurprisingly, Team Sky is also on a high, leading Katusha and Liquigas by a huge margin in the WorldTour rankings. Mark Cavendish may have crashed out of Sunday’s first stage of the Tour of Britain but then Luke Rowe stepped up to score the 99th victory for Sky, just hours before Lars Petter Nordhaug made it a century in the GP fe Montréal.

No wonder there are record crowds out for the Tour of Britain this week. We’re in the mood to cheer on out best – there’s never been a better time to celebrate cycling.
