The 18th stage of the 2017 Giro d’Italia sees the peloton stay in the mountains, with a short 137km stage from Moena to Ortisei/St. Ulrich, packing in no fewer than five climbs.

If stage 16 with its two ascents of the Passo dello Stelvio was the queen stage of the race, then this is the princess stage, featuring spectacular scenery in the heart of the Dolomites.

With only a few days remaining until the race reaches Milan, this is one of a diminishing number of chances for the GC contenders to really shake up the top of the standings, with plenty of opportunities for long-range attacks.

The Giro d’Italia will continue on Friday with a 191km stage from San Candido/Innichen to Piancavallo including a testing summit finish
