A brand new name in bikes will be hitting UK cycle stores in 2012, and the range is shaping up to be pretty tasty. Taiwanese firm Velocite will bring over five models – three carbon-fibre road machines, one aluminium road bike and one carbon mtb hardtail – with which to tempt British cyclists in the New Year.
Leading the way is the Helios Aero – a seriously slippy carbon beauty designed by noted aero frame expert Lewis Mathiske. The Helios Aero features an asymmetric hourglass profile, straight path internal cable routing and apparently exhibits class-leading torsional stiffness. Prices start at £2,950 for a complete build with SRAM Apex and go up to £8,190 for a full Di2 Dura-Ace machine.
Next up is the Magnus, an uncompromising carbon race bike, again with internal cable routing and BB30 bottom bracket. Prices start at £2,720 with Apex.
Helios: Super-stiff star of the range
The Geos is potentially Velocite’s sportive machine. Unlike the straight crossbars of the Helios and Magnus, the Geos’s carbon monocoque frame is built around a sloping top tube design. In most other respects, though, it features much of the same technology as its more expensive siblings. The entry model costs £2,400.
A wide range of SRAM and Shimano groupsets are available on all models and both carbon and aluminium frames – which are also available frame only – come with a lifetime warranty. Velocite also does a broad selection of own-brand components, including some impressive-looking wheelsets.

Magnus: All-carbon road machine
At the moment a dealer base is being set up over here, but Velocite’s UK wing tells us it has also agreed sponsorship deals with some high-profile teams and riders for 2012 and announcements are coming soon.
The Geos’s design is grounded in sportives
Fancy something a bit different from all the carbon offerings, if so perhaps the Selene, a rather tasteful, almost retro-looking aluminium frame will float your boat. Velocite says is the only aluminium frame in the world to be 100 per cent shot peened after welding. Prices begin at £1,690 for complete bikes.
