- Solid, if unspectacular, spec
- Little on the heavy side

At a glance, the AMX1 looks too expensive to be here, and not just because it bears the legend’s name.
It’s not a bells-and-whistles approach, just solid spec choices throughout: Tiagra groupset, FSA finishing kit and a Shimano RS10 wheelset shod with Vittoria Zaffiro tyres. All tried and tested stuff.

The triple-butted frame combined with carbon fork delivers a reassuring ride – great stability at speed, holding lines well through sweeping turns.
All things considered, there's very little to complain about, with the possible exception that a bit of dieting could further aid its appeal, as it's a pound heavier than the Ghost, despite having a very similar spec.
